Is eating a lot of protein bad for my kidneys?
In healthy people, high protein intake has not been shown to harm the kidneys, and studies in active people at 1.6 to 2.2 grams per kilogram have found no damage. Protein targets in this range are widely considered safe.
If you have existing kidney disease or reduced kidney function, protein needs differ and you must follow your doctor's advice.
